  1. Padania Stage 2

Stage 2: 187km from Loano to Vigevano, lots of little hills apart from one bigger one after around 40k.

More protests this time, some of these people are certainly passionate about their politics! Apparently the Liguria region is particularly against the Padania movement. We rode along the coast, much like yesterday a break was allowed to go pretty early so we only went hard for around 20k before entering club run mode. We seemed to ride along the coast for longer than we were supposed ...

  2. Padania Stage 1

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/mode...-investigation

This will probably result in a lifetime ban for Ricco, which means he wonít be joining us after all. It is probably for the best. A selfish part of me wanted him to join so that our racing calendar would continue beyond the second week of October.

Giuseppe, our masseur gave me a massage the day before Padania. Massage is one of those traditional things that all teams seem to do, I am still ...

  3. Giro Delle Romagna - Coppa Placci - UCI 1.1

This race was rather unexpectedly thrust upon me. Since I didnít make the time cut on the first stage of my first ever pro stage race last week I have been eating only a few crackers, pieces of toast and things that donít upset my stomach. I did something pretty awful to it by finishing the stage the other day. My plan for this race was to see how I felt (my health has been improving fairly quickly) and pull out if I didnít feel right. My main aim is to race and complete the Giro di Padania which ...

  4. Settimana Lombarda Stage 1

Urghhh what a day, something was wrong from the start, my stomach didnít feel great, a bit funny but not too bad, when we started riding it was apparent that something was wrong. It was fairly manic for the first 25k whilst a break formed and then FDJeux set a nice tempo for everyone to stick to. I tried eating some solid food but every time I ate something it made my stomach worse. This was possibly a fatal error but in hindsight perhaps it let me finish the stage. After 70k I felt like I was riding ...

  5. Brief update before the off.

It's funny but even the Italian pro calendar is capable of being poorly put together. We are about to ride two tours almost back to back and then our team won't be doing any racing until the first of October (The Marco Pantani Memorial). So I shall be coming back to Cambridge for a week or so, otherwise I'll go mad training on my own from the hotel here in Italy. I see that the racing calendar in the UK has also puttered out. If I ride a TT to fill the time I will have to ride for my old club, registering ...
