Thread: Chaingang - UPDATED with route map

You are very welcome. Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat. There is always a bit of a charge on the Chapelberg - but there is ususally a pretty big regrouping on the other side. But if you are dropped you won't be the only one so it is worth waiting to from a 2nd group.

The route takes the first left after the Chapelberg in Barrington which takes you to a T with the A10. Turn tight into Foxton and take the first left imediately after the level crossing. Left at the next T which takes you out of Foxton to a crossroads where we turn left to go to Newton.
Turn right in Newton to go over the M11 to Whittlesford.
Turn left to wind it up for the sprint for the Little Shelford sign.

See you next week I hope.

A map might help matters. It runs anti-clockwise from the start, if that's not clear.

    Was there a regrouping?

I know that people were getting shelled from quite early.

If, as suggested, we have a regrouping at Great Eversden then anyone who gets dropped afterwards, like Richard, would have a group to wait for.

Apart from some dodgy handling (mainly from people wearing green) on some of the corners and complete disintegration* after Whittlesford I thought it was pretty good for this time of year.

*there are no prizes for the sprint - so there's no point in everyone sitting in.

    Agreed regarding the sprint.
I wasn't feeling that great last night - otherwise I'm often quite happy to give a big lead out.
On the other hand I probably should practise my sprinting .....

Can anyone join in on this?

I might be able to get along tomorrow if so? 6:45 Newnham Corner?

I think I'll probably not be able to keep up all the way round but if I don't try I'll never know.

Of course - the more the merrier.
We ride hard at the front so things will often split up - but there are a couple of places where you can regroup if you are tailed off.

    Chris,

Never actually looked at your map beyond Little Shelford. Normally we go back into Cambridge over Granham's, past Addenbrookes and along Hills Road rather than via Trumpington as marked on the map.
(I guess at least you didn't draw the route finishing in Sawston)

When are you moving onto the long route? I might come up for a ride sometime.
