Overall I did 20.38 to win by 5s, it was quite a tough field, Simon Norman (who was 2nd) had beaten me earlier in the season. Woo hoo!

On Sunday a few Cambridge CC riders were at the Ely & Diss open on the B10/1R (Mepal) course. I did 21.11 to take 6s of the course record and win by 52s, Martin Reynolds (recovering from a cold) did 23.09 (6th) and Joey Halloran did 23.10 (8th). We won the team prize and Martin also got 3rd place vet. Juliet Vickery was fastest lady. Yay us!
You're having quite a season! How many wins is that now?

For open events it's either 8 or 9, depending on if you count the ECCA10 (where Dowsett won but wasn't eligible). Also I've had 5 or 6 2nd places,

It's been a pretty crazy season really, I've only ridden 18 opens!

It must be down to the Tim W Mallorca training camp!

    Well done David.

The closest I can get to David Mcgaw's efforts is 2nd place at the Essex Roads CC 25 on Monday.
However to put that into perspective, it was 3 minutes off the winner! Colin Ward did 55:50, I did 58:46. I was only 2 seconds ahead of third place, and fourth place was only a further 12 seconds back, so a close scrap for the podium places. Bearing in mind I have missed a podium by 3s earlier this year, it was pleasing to be the rider that few seconds ahead and grab my best finishing position in an Open event.

Yay! Well done Chris, you've been getting faster and faster this season!
There's still time to bag a win or two

Yesterday I rode the Bossard Wheelers CC open event on the F15/10 (Marsden Moretaine) course, the one with the gift hill start. It was quite a strong start sheet but hardly any of the seeded riders turned up, I think maybe because in the handbook it was incorrectly listed as being on the superfast F11/10. It was not too windy but as usual was a bit of a grovel for the last mile. David Kiernan won with a 20.20, I was 2nd with 20.29.

Today Chris Dyason and I rode the Stowmarket and Diss CC open event on the B10/38 (Woolpit) course. It was quite cold when the event started but luckily I was off late so it was nice and warm with good traffic. It always feels like it should be a really fast course but nobody ever seems to go fast on it. I did 20.35 to win by 37s. Chris did 23.35, in his age group aka "the battle of the Chris's" he managed to beat Chris Roberts (3rd) and Chris Womack (5th) but not Chris Nudds (23.14) so had to settle for 2nd.

Victory abroad for CCC! Tyler Denmead, who moved to the US a while back is still racing for CCC. He won the 2014 Benton Park Criterium.

Yesterday 3 CCC riders rode the Stevenage CC 12 mile TT on a course just south of Wimpole Hall (Guilden Morden). Julia came 2nd Woman (of 8) with a time of 33.22. I managed 17th overall (of 35) in 30.53. Paul McConville did 33.56 (28th)

There is a 25 mile TT held on the same "sporting" circuit on Saturday the 27th of September. Would be good to see some more CCC riders out for that one.

Today quite a few people from Cambridge CC rode the ECCA10 on the E2/10 course. It was a dreich day, I think the early riders got soaked, it was just a bit damp when I rode. It was a huge field but quite a few DNS's including Russell Kober. I didn't see all the results but almost all of them. I did 19.30, Chris Pearce did 20.27 for 11th (I think), Chris Dyason did 21.55 and I think we won the team prize, it was quite close though! James Dynes did 22.13. Yay us!

Edit: On the results board it had said Joe Gorman did 21.09 but this was wrong and he actually won with 19.09. We did win the team prize though.
