All race reports, results and happenings from riding for ASPTT Mulhouse in 2009.
My last race of the season was a difficult one: the tour de Moselle. We rode against a quality field including a handful of DN1 squads, the 2 Belgian pro-tour feeder teams (i.e. for Lotto and Quickstep), several Luxembourgish teams (we were right on the border), the French U23 team, a German team and a Russian national team. Unfortunately I was suffering from a severe bout of end-of-season-itis, I was too unmotivated to attack but too chicken to pack, either. Abandoning crossed my ...

Last weekend I rode the tour du pays de Gex, I rode it last year and lost 40 minutes on the first stage - so this year could only be an improvement. The race is based in Gex near Geneva and is ridden totally in France, the stages were short but very difficult, I wanted to aim for yellow this time as I feel I'm now good enough to win these races. Unfortunately I think I was deluding myself, on the first stage I blew after 90k and lost nearly a minute to the leaders to come 19th, the time gaps for ...

This week I came back to the UK especially for the national TT champs, It was a target race and I had no excuse not to do well, having won a decent TT a week earlier in France. I had a nice little confidence boost, too during the week. It turns out one of the riders I beat in that TT won a stage in the tour de L'Avenir (one of the most prestigious U23 stage races in the world) and has since held on to the leaders jersey. Since the world of cycling is ageist enough to exclude relative ...

Greetings all, I have just come back from riding the Tour Loire Pilat, a big stage race for up and coming riders to get spotted – I rode it last year and had terrible luck. It was a bit of an up and down race for me this time, but unlike last year it was a good one overall. The team prologue was on Friday night and just 3.1k long, 3 laps of a non-technical loop with a hill in it. TT bikes not necessary as the descent was so bumpy and the hill was steep enough to not ...

Greetings from the Cote d'Azur. I am currently drenched in sweat whilst writing this, we are experiencing a bit of a heat wave down here. I drove down without much trouble, except for the heat, which caused me to drink all of my drinking bottles. I still arrived dehydrated with a headache though. I am staying with Yannick, my DS from last year in Plascassier, near Grasse. There is a pool, Dominique, Yannick's wife is an awesome cook, Jannes (who was my team mate at the start of the ...
