:( Somebody has stolen my malt loaf. Two very tasty looking pieces, of unknown origin but definitely not Tesco value malt loaf, they were the good stuff.

If anyone knows of their whereabouts please would they return them as I will be needing them tomorrow (saturday), thank you.

Do badgers eat malt loaf? Or eagles, whippets and bears? Big'un will eat anything. Rogers Brother will eat it with honey on. What's in Mr Rocket's pocket?

Come on own up. :(

'onest Guv, I turned me back an' it was gawn!

I can't remember where it came from, I might have it saved at home for just an occasion like this.

'onest Guv, I turned me back an' it was gawn!

I can't remember where it came from, I might have it saved at home for just an occasion like this.
For a 20lb loaf:

4kg spelt flour (half rye flour, half wholemeal wheat)
2kg milk
200g fresh yeast
30 tablespoons malt extract
10 tablespoons treacle
10 tablespoons golden syrup
1kg unrefined barbados or Mauritius sugar
1kg raisins
Teaspoon salt
Method
Warm the flour in the oven and warm the milk. Mix a little milk with the yeast. Stir the sugars into the milk. Work everything together. Beat well. You may need to add more flour. This mix doesn't go hard - it will remain sticky. Cover with a plastic bag and leave in a warm place until halved again or doubled in size or oven door opens.

Sprinkle a little more flour over the mix and beat well to knock back down. Transfer to the very well floured tin. Leave to rise for half an hour. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C.

Bake the bread for half an hour before turning the oven down to 160 degrees and covering the bread with foil for another half hour. Release the loaf from the tin and bake upside down if the bottom is not cooked.
