VDH What can I say - my sister has arranged her new sprog's christening for that Sunday at 10 am in Fleet. I wouldn't go but that she has asked me to be a god father - she doesn't know me very well :P
I would like to confirm to everyone else who is thinking of riding this great event that it is soooooo worth doing.

The same weekend as the Crest, but that would be too disrepectfull to the club to ride that, so if you don't mind Bruce i'll ride
Is there any route details that you could post on here :?:

good for you George
Now someone needs to convince Frank not to do the Crest. And if he don't want to race he should marshal.
route is around the horrible hills of Essendon, Newgate Street etc. Not nice unless you're small and light

Will be riding the disgustingly hilly course, but may persuade the lovely Catherine to Marshall for you.

Can anyone give me the route?? Thanks
Starts near the Ridgeway, into Cuffley, left down Carbone Hill into Newgate Street left at top. down hill, left onto Tylers Causeway, right at Cucumber Lane, right at end of Lane, down hill into Little Berkhamstead, right to Epping Green, straigh on at turn for White Stubbs Lane, down hill and up hill into Newgate Street again, staright on down hill then up Darnicle Hill, do a u'ey at roundabout, back down Darnicle, Up into Newgate Street, straight on, turn right onto Whitestubbs Lane, miss turning for Bayford then next left and through the windy lane to Brickendon, turn right down Brickendon lane to Hertford, left onto lower road and then into Essendon and finish near A1000. I think that's right; I may be wrong about the right turn onto White Stubbs Lane
We should ride it on a Sat really although we can do the old course which doesn't do the u'ey at the roundabout but instead goes staright on to Flamstead then back through Wormley West End.

I wonder how much it would cost to buy a digital OS map of the route area, I bet I could make a really cool 'Route Map'

I've been playing around with a digital OS map demo, quite cool. Can be a little time consuming to plot a route but you can break the route into sections, ie between road junctions and it will give you the distance between, the amout of feet/metres climbed and descended.
If you have a graphics card (I don't having only a laptop) you can even produce a 3D fly through of the route. Now that would be cool for the Hardriders course.

Just got to get my act together and buy one. Not bad at £39.95 per area. The one for down here (south England) is everything south of north London to the other side of Southampton. To go really high tech, the map even downloads to GPS receivers (don't see many of them on bikes yet though)

I know the've recently developed videos of race routes (i.e flanders, ventoux) via a motorbike camera. They are setup with your turbo so your speed and resistance will change accordingly (looks really class), maybe we could get them to film the hardriders circuit :D

Only if you use one of the £300-500 turbos :!: Better things to spend my hard earned cash on. But would be fun to try out though.

Cucumber lane is a dodgy, narrow country lane made more fun by the sneaky rh turn which jumps out at you just as you reack max speed. Saw Shaun Yates take it so fast he had to use the bank as a wall of death.
Killer route - wish I was doing it.
