A good hard ride (understatement - very hard) today but I personally think that the first part of the ride could have been more steady and slower, especially as we had a strong headwind on the way back. I also think there should be more of an effort to keep the whole group togther for as long as possible. Other than that, it was a good workout :D
Any comments?

I agree it was a hard day out. There were certainly sections of the ride when the group was riding very well together. We did loose quite a number of the group before half way which had an impact. I think that there was also a bit of jumping around on the hills which made things a little erratic as did the stop/starting into the headwind when Gianni was struggling.
Improvements.
1. Make sure everyone is aware of the type of ride we plan - then stick to the plan.
2. Gianni rides as part of the pack.
3. Everyone is aware that before they start getting tired they can sit a couple of front sessions out by not rotating from the back.
For the New Year and when we begin building up for the race season I was considering the following:
1hr warm up 2 by 2 out to a race circuit. Whitwell or Barley Barkway.
1hr race pace around the circuit (with the understanding that we will cover a certain number of laps before turning to meet up with anyone who gets dropped.
1hr warm down and return to base.
I would welcome thoughts.

Great Idea Tony, about 22-24 mins a lap(for the whitwell circuit) that way if someone is dropped they can turn around and go the opposite way and tag on again within 15 mins.
