View Full Version : Saturday training Rides #2

OK so the last thread of this series had grown a little cold so thought I should restart it.
Had a thought the other night as I pedaled home and my ham strings got ever shorter......stretching.
A couple of points
1. Warm legs stretch better than cold ones.
2. Standing around at the triangle is a waste of time.
Conclusion. Talk and stretch at the same time. I will bring along some stretching ideas for this Saturday to start things off. With well stretched legs you will all be able to ride further/faster and when I get home I will be able to stand upright.
Thoughts? :?:

Good idea but next week can we make it understood that we will set off at9.35 and can we all leave our mobiles on in case anyone has punchered
on the way to the meet the group can then ride back to pick them up.
Also if anyone punchures on the ride a nominated rider(someone big and strong)can stay with them while the group ride on for 5 mins then turns
retraces to collect the 2 riders

This all gets my vote. Aim to arrive at 9.25 to allow for stretching session.
Augusto - any comments re Italian John thread. What would the real A.P. do :?: :)

Stretching sounds like a good idea, Tony - are you gona be Mr.Motivator and Stand at the front showing us the techniques :D

from what I recall of Mr Motivator it was not only his techniques he showed - my lycra is not that tight or bright.

I have a thought
I need to change a cost element from type 1 to type 11. However transaction data exists although I can't actually find it (it could be plan data but can't find the right version).
Should I leave it and allow the accounting documents to fail until year end and then reprocess them and then create the same cost element with a new analysis period or should I create a new cost element now and then update the table C003 with this and transport to production.
Your help will be much appreciated.

My Dad was an accountant and used such interesting topics to get me to sleep in the car. I found myself nodding off as I read your message.
What are you on :?

Richard. SAP - if you work with this system all the time I think I have uncovered the cause of your chronic fatigue. I have to use Online Buyer occasionally and find myself contemplating suicide within the hour.
Faster group - any comments on the ride or route. I can suggest that we will be doing something similar over the coming few weeks, extending the route but not the speed and possibly extending the length of the pace line work at the end to increase endurance.
I would like us to start off at 9 35 next week and begin with a stretching session at say 9 30 (arrive at 9 25).
Comments.

Found the through and off too much at the end apart from that Ok hard enough to give me something to aim for, thanks Tony and well done :D

Really enjoyed Saturday morning's extended ride and through n' off finale :D Count me in for these every week. Extended route, longer paceline session to finish - ok as long as the additional distance/time is added gradually as winter training progresses.
Good session Saturday Tony - nice one mate  :D

Agreed, a very good session, just started fading near to Hertford when Fatigue really starts to set in, due to being thirsty, hungry, dizzy - you name it i was feeling it. I think we can start to be more flexible with the routes aswell - gradualy added hilly and longer routes as we get more fit.
GLENDENE - BRACE YOURSELVES - Well Maybe :D

I agree with Pocket vary the routes. pesonally it would be nice not to know exactly where I'm going off the back, got a bit of a phobia about Barley Barkway

Well I want with B's, not fast but faster than I've been going recently. I now have a sore throat, headache and am thinking of going home to bed.
My planned training for the week is now cancelled.
So the chances of me joining you on Satruday's are remote unless I can find out why I can't recover. It's three weeks of tiredness and one week ok at the moment. Can't believe it's just old age. Look at Tony!!

I thoroughly enjoyed it, qute happy to extend the time but not any harder yet. Not surprised you were knackered George, you do 20 miles more than me, I recommend the malt loaf.
For 2005, here is a link to the reliability trials in the Chilterns. I did one last year with some lovely hills, 100k, riding there and back from Hertford made it about 100 miles.

Malt loafs are good yes, what i require is expanding water - as you drink it the bootle becomes full again :) , dehydrations my problem, i probably had about 2.5 large bottles in total (i stopped for lucozade) and still i was feeling dizzy due to dehydration, i either need to use a camel back like tony or just fill up the day before be pissing all night :?

I agree with Heff and Augusto, felt it did me alot of good, best thing was that there was no jumping around on hills etc. I did find the paceline session too much although that dosen't matter because we were on the way home. I'll definately come again next week, but I don't think I'll ride out from Enfield (did over 90miles in the end) :) . Well done Tony

...got a bit of a phobia about Barley Barkway
That's you and me both Prez....I was krepping myself from about 5 miles out, for a climb up to the Barkway radio mast (on the old rr circuit), that didn't happen...but it might next week! (trembling, wibble, wibble) If it's any comfort to ya' Andy, I only got back on by the skin of my teeth when Tony 'n' Rocket eased up after a slight rise into Barley/Barkway.....you weren't the only one plumbing the bottom of yer tank on Saturday mate

Nuffin to do with age mate. I have been developing this aerodynamic nose and retractable hair to help me slip through the air. Sorry about missing out the radio station hill - another week. Am thinking about other routes as we speak hence vacant dreamy look on face.

Cheers Tony - I'll decide after the first few laps what i'll be doing in the race(i.e. attcking or killing myself to stay in) - From the report in CW there were over 60 starters and only about 35 at half distance

Thoroughly "enjoyed" meself Mr.Rocket :D ...... usual sketch, felt animal strong for the first 2 hours  , then fell off the planet completely  and spent the last 2 hours hanging on the back on the verge of tears   A case of spending me pennies too quickly, methinks   Another quality outing with Messrs. Bradford and Moon....my sincere thanks to you both for a thorough "beasting" :!: Roll on next Saturday :D
p.s. Is the guy who got the nose bleed after 3 hours ok......or are we forming a burial party later this week :?:

Anyone fancy a beer in The Farmer's Boy after the 10 on Sunday. with wives, partners, whatever? Anyone know if the pub is children friendly, mine probably won't want to go anyway but they might?
Come over even if you haven't ridden.

As its nearly Christmas what about option 5; See what Bruce is doing and go in the other group, seeing as he's had a hard week.

Weather forecast says damp so how about we do Dane End, then the Flint Cross route in reverse with a minor detour in Barkway just for fun. Easy out then a good old slog  in to Ashwell before through and off on the way home  (also means eyeballs out) - you know it makes sense.
See you at 9.25 for a stretch :!:
