Can anyone advise me who to approach about getting my club affiliated to your league for 2005?

I can help.
Affiliation to the ERRL is pretty simple. Promote a road race under the fairly straightforward rules, and you and your clubmates are in.
The tricky part is that it's now quite late to be planning a race for 2005. If you already have one planned, then we should be able to incorporate it into the calendar. If not, then you need to talk to Derek Lusher (DELBOYBIKIE@aol.com) as soon as you can.

Thanks.
I know that my club wouldn't be eligable for any team awards if it wasn't affgiliated. What about as a solo rider ?

Currently, there is no provision for individual membership of the league.
This is one of the things I'd like to see change as we take the League forward, but it can't happen for the 2005 season.

I can see why it would be that way; to prevent hoardes of random choppers from turning up. Just so I am clear on this, if I race regularly for a non member club, I will not accumulate league points, and as the season progresses I will be flicked out of the way of riders chasing points. Thats quite harsh really, as I will pay as much (or more?) to race. . .

Well, I think that there are only a few (2 or 3) of the clubs in the league who really care about winning the league - most riders are probably more interested in BC points. And you'll get flicked by them whether it's an ERRL race or not

Fair Play, thanks for your help.
Well, not ERV any more, as they've been kicked out. But seeing as all their road riders have joined Interbike...

This needs to change, please. I may be forced to leave my only club of 15 years coz of it

sdc,
what's stopping YOU organizing a road race and getting your club affiliated that way?

I'll tell you what's stopping me:
BC membership fees. My club has always been predominantly a tester's club. We are not shy of organising events, in fact half of the ERRL riders probably have PBd on one of our events one time. However, only one or two riders now and then get the road race bug. If we were to promote, it is my understanding that all those involved (even the tea lady) would have to get BC membership. Whereas I don't mind getting a licence, as I will use it, those who will only need the membership (not cheap) in order to help promote, they reasonably baulk at the idea.
You are welcome to compete in Open TTs without promoting, why not extend the courtessey? At least to individuals, if you want to keep the big cup for a promoting club, then that is possibly fair enough.
NB I know API promote a couple of ECCA events, most road teams dont do any TTs though, this rant isn't aimed at you personally

Halcyon,
I don't think you need everyone to have BC membership. Anyone know for sure? Certainly the organiser, and possibly the car drivers for the insurance, but I don't know else.
Anyway, what have open TT's got to do with ERRL road races? It's comparing apples to oranges. At least with the ERRL, non-members get to ride, unlike the ECCA!
At the moment, the league is geared around promoting for its members. There aren't enough races on the calendar, so if this means that more clubs decide to promote or lose members, then great. If we allow private membership, where's the impetus to increase the number of races?

Our club cant get enough people out to marshal a E91 10

If you're serious about racing, perhaps you should join a club that is as well, and change your existing club membership to second claim? Just a thought...
The trick is to balance been serious and loyal, I know I should leave but would prefer not  (plus our colours are the best  ) what if I join a member club 2nd claim?

You can't get a BC license from a second-claim club. You're in a tricky situation, I realise. However, rarely are ERRL events fully subscribed with member riders - if you enter early enough, with a well-presented, fully completed entry from, then you're maximising your chances of getting a ride I'd have thought.
