Eastway on Sundays, get whatever you want from it.
Would be very good practice for riding in a group, especially for newcomers to learn the difference riding in a bunch compared to two abreast in a paceline.
Mention it to Trevor, Bruce, Del and anyone else who might want to start road racing next season or just fancy the ride.
Take a look at
http://www.ciclosuno.com/sldat.htm
encouraging for beginners.

Got to agree with the bish here. I did one League of Vet Racers event here last year, great fun. The races also include The League International events for those more young than RB and me. Both cost £10 to join and about £6 to race.
Later in the season there are similar in the evening up at North Weald airfield.
For the slightly more experienced the Eastway events would be a good place to try out RR tactics.

Winter series 2004/5
At Eastway
The winter training series is very simple. There are two races, one at 10.00 aimed at Under 16s, Novices and Ladies, and an open event at 10.30.
Note that we enourage people brand new to cycling competition to try these 10.00am races, whatever their age. Ladies are especially welcome and for everyone we hope to provide the least stressful introduction to cycling competition
10.30 races are usually 1hour + 5 laps They are not serious. You can race if you want to, or join the 'laughing group' for safe and traffic-free winter training.
No licences of any kind are needed. Entry fee is £5 and when you return your number you can get £1 off your canteen bill - tea, cakes and so on will be available.
Good food will be available throughout the morning - why not guide your club run to Eastway for elevenses and watch the action?
December - 5th, 12th, 19th
January - 9th, 23rd, 30th
February - 13th, 20th, 27th

Yeah, dominate the race before the others start trying!
I'm keen to go, will have the car (not big big big though) some sundays, can pick you up George, and could probably squeeze another in (Renault Scenic - Pacific blue, R reg, 60,000 miles, good condition, two previous owners, married, two children, 48 years old, insane).
Was Eastway mentioned an Saturday, anybody new to RR keen?
Check weather forcast before going.

I will probably be making a late decision each weekend depending on weather, family activity etc., especially if I have been out on the saturday.
If I know when others are going and plan ahead, it will be easier to get a pass from management.
I hope the rides aren't too serious in January and we can concentrate on bunch riding and the "Blue Train" leading out George, not hanging on.

Who is going to ride on Jan 9th?
Who can offer transport - pick up / meet where?
Who needs a lift? ME! although the train looks to go door to doorish, Hertford East to Hackney.
Chatting to Pocket and Heff, it is not too hard a ride but good practice.
See link above or on the wonderful NRCC web site.

or was good smoker no sense of humour
Good luck at Eastway but why not ride there and back excellent training and what Eric Zabel does in some of the early tours (goes for a ride after not ride from hotel to start and finish, mind you if he rode back to the hotel he stayed in the night before he would get a lot of miles in

Nice idea, less than 25 miles from Hertford, but don't fancy the last 10 miles unless anyone knows a good route.
Also that would make a whole day of it, after the saturday ride I would have more than used up all my house points.

what's the plan then, Trevor said I can go with him (makes sense as he only lives down the road). How many are going?
How did todays ride go by the way. I just didn't feel up to it today.

Understatement of the year Mr.Rocket....(even if it is only 10 days old) :!: Big 'Un's seamless entry into racing at E'Way was jaw droppingly good  ........as it served my nefarious "sit-in stylee" tactics, I'm even prepared to commend him for starting the sprint from 1/2 mile out :!:  WELL DONE MATE

Yes, excellent run out, a gentle spin for an hour and a bit did my confidence the world of good. Great to be in a race with some clubmates, makes a huge difference.

Hey Guys, we gotta get our mate Big-un into a club jersey for Sunday. Remember lookin' round the bunch for him last time over E'Way and his blue Arse-oss top was just lost in the crowd   Hows-about we have a whip-round, buy two size 7 jerseys and get them stitched together at Sketchleys in time for Sunday :?: Failing that...any chance of strapping a flashing light to yer head Trev

sadly i will be away at the weekend doing some altitude training up in the Italian mountains....skiing with a few mates

you guys have a good time at the weekend now and i will be back on line after the weekend :D
