Does anyone have the result?

No result on the BC website and I'm not sure how long it takes to get the result cards through. I've looked in all the obvious places as well. Nothing to be seen. Makes it hard to write a press report.

And it's not like no Interbike members on the forum, is it?

Chris:
Break went from the gun me and 2 IB guys and Dean and a Shorter Rochford chap who was working really hard with me to get things established.

David and another IB guy joined 1 lap later making 7 up front. We cruised round for a few laps then 2 to go it got a bit 'jumpy' I tried for a long one but was chased down then a few others got away and Dave brought it all back together for me to have another dig with about 1/2 lap left. I got a decent gap and Dave said what was left of the break were all 'blown'.

James, Eric, Steve, Mark and George had thing covered all day and we scored BIG points again.

I think Dave is a 1st cats now, I may be to according to Eric.

Thanks for encouraging me to ride this weekend.

Cheers
Dan

Hey, I just didn't want you having to take an unwanted 6-month holiday from racing 8)

Well done on the win - do you think people are getting frustrated at the Cambridge iron grip on the bunch once the break has gone? At this level of racing, isn't it a bit OTT?

Apologies to other riders if this is a bit inaccurate - I find the details get rather murky all too easily:

Almost as soon as they attacked the first break cunningly laid down a trail of panicking horses behind them, meaning that after the first mile the bunch had to do the odd track-stand (deja vu from an earlier race)! Lots of chasing for the next two laps did not bring the break back, though, so they were obviously going well and probably didn't need any help from horses
Various attacks went off the front of the bunch, but were to no avail. I attacked on lap 3 and got a decent gap, and then was joined a few minutes later by about 7 other riders, including Mark Matthews (CCC) Steve Hubbard (CCC), Dean Shannon (Southend), and another private member (?) who was going well, with around 40 miles to go. The break was whittled down to about 5 riders with 20 miles to go.
With a lap to go or so we caught up an Interbike rider, who had been left by the front break. I attacked with 2 miles to go and Dean bridged up to me. We swapped turns for a bit and passed a couple of other riders who were dropped from the front group, and Dean managed to have the legs to sprint to get 3rd, with me just behind Ben N., in 5th. Mark was 9th and Steve was 10th. Sorry, I'm not sure who was 6th-8th.
Anyway, we're nearly there on the commentary. I know Eric got in a break behind my group... Over to you someone in that break? 8)
The "bunch" was a couple of minutes back.

I don't think there was any iron grip on the bunch! :)
Matt was a DNS with an appointment with his sick-bed. George just had an appointment with sick, as his breakfast decided to come visiting again. The rest of us were in chase groups.

Everyone races with a positive effect on the event as far as I have seen.

OK, that's cool then. I know other clubs with large squads haven't always been as positive this year. It's just that comments like 'had thing covered all day' could be interpreted either way.

I don't think they've got an iron grip - it was all good racing on Sunday - plenty of jumping around, and it got a bit tactical with effectively 2 IB'ers and 2 Cambridge - the other Interbike guy was a Junior, so maybe wasn't so used to all that jumping.

It's a shame Chris and I haven't had a bit more racing this year - cos I was certainly lacking the racing miles - but it was still all good fun - legs still ache today - got cramp in both legs - i'd turned them inside out by the finish - couldn't even get out of the saddle!

I was in front of the bunch when our James and then our Mark and Steve successfully drifted away
4th lap: Phil Hetzel and Mark Waller jumped with 2 others (sorry don't know the names). I bridged across. Phil and Mark were working hard and we went very close to the group ahead during the 5th or 6th lap. We then were joined by a few who got dropped from the group in front and the pace slowed a lot. We were swallowed by the peloton with less than a lap to go and a dozen riders attacked immediately and drifted away.
The peloton remained compact with about 1000 m to go and then there were progressive accelerations at the front. I managed to get the sprint (the peloton looks very stretched on Nickie's photo !) but as discussed with Phil before the drag near the HQ before the finish, this was all for training and fun. Gorgeous weather, no shouting, no moaning and lots of happy riders that day it seems.
I enjoyed this "post-holiday" first race very much.

Yeah great race.
My first road race in fact having just turned junior. Pitty I could only do half of it as when in the second breakaway group my chain snapped at the quicklink going up a hill.

Oh dear - that's bad luck. I hope you were sitting on in the group, and getting a free ride up!!

Hope the remainder of the season's races go a bit better!

Yep, you were going OK in the second chase group and suddenly there was the fearful crunch of steel. I thought it was a crash at first! At least no-one's hurt, though. You'll be even more fired up for the next race!
