Sounds good. Wasn't keen on Norfolk. Once you know where were staying it might be worth trying to sort out a few routes before we go instead on on Friday night in the hotel. I've got a few routes for rides in the Cotswolds around somewhere, should be able to modify them to suit.

I'm struggling with hotels at the moment. Obviously need a big one but the ones in the country are quite expensive. Cheltenham is cheaper but not too keen on staying in a large town. Someone from Veloriders is looking for one for me.

If you can't find anything in the Cotswolds Hay-on-wye might be an idea because thats got loads of Hotels and isn't to far from the Cotswolds

Could do but that's further away. Somewhere like Stow or Moreton would be best I think as only two hours from home.

Another prob is the date
Easter is 25th to 28th March next year so can't really use that as people will want to race/holidays etc and too expensive as well.
The week before is just after the Cheltenham Festival so may be full up or more expensive
So what about 1st - 3rd April? Quite late but weather should be better.

Sounds good, and quite easy to get to, the new dual carriageway (A414?) to Aylesbury and just keep going. How about Stow in the Wold?

would be ideal but struggling to find a hotel large enough and cheap enough in that area.

Flanders is on 3rd of April. Best to go 2nd or 3rd weekend of March before the racing gets going.

You can't please everyone so just go for it if you can get a good price in a big enough hotel.
I probably won't be going wherever or whenever anyway as my spring treat is 4 - 18 of March in Mallorca. Good luck.
(Treat? Being given a good hiding every day by my brother and his mates, but I'll do anything for two weeks away - only joking dear if you're reading this over my shoulder.)

I've found a hotel in Lechlade, Gloucesterhire. Has 20 rooms available and is very reasonable at £80 per double/twin room per night including breakfast and evening meal so I've booked it.
There are only 12 twin roomds but I guess some can share doubles if there aren't enough.
Lechlade is on the edge of the Cotswolds. I reckon we could do a good 100 mile ride by going on a flat route up to the north of the Cotswolds near Broadway then south through the hills. Then again I have no idea of the roads round there.
It will be Friday 18th March to 20th. Quite early but Easter is weekend after so can't use that.
If you def want to go please reply. I'll do a flyer for the gazette and put on website as well.

Well done Badg, Looks like a good location, I'll be up for it if I can get permission as we're going to Flanders two weeks later and then Mallorca shortly after that

I went to check out the hotel in Lechlade on Saturday. Not the lap of luxury but good enough for us. Cost is only £70 for whole weekend which is good for the Cotswolds.
Then I did a 3 hour ride. Blimey it's hilly. I had to push myself pretty hard to get back to the car before it got dark as I was running behind. There are options to do flatter rides though. I think we should aim to get to the North end of the Cotswolds near Broadway by flattish route and then come back down thorugh the hilly bit. I don't know the roads so if anyone has any ideas maybe they could lead on the day.
The January gazette will have the flyer for entry in it. Closing date is Jan 28th. Shame about Easter being so early next year which may mean we get less members than usual as people will go away at Easter, especially the lesiure riders (coz we're all racing at Easter weekend aren't we???). See how it goes.

I'll dig out some routes that I've got and see if any are suitable. There are also a couple of Audax events in that Cotswolds, so I'll try to get the route sheets to see if they are suitable.
